At one point after catching the ball, Justice Hill is 12 yards downfield from Jared Verse. Verse still makes the play.
Would Myles Garrett have made that play? #Browns
If you compiled tape of all of Myles Garrett’s huge, game-changing plays and compared it to TJ Watt’s tape, Watt’s would be a LOT longer, and far more diverse.
This isn’t revisionist history from a disappointed #Browns fan. I’ve been saying it for years…
If the #Knicks sweep, I’m gonna need someone to come up with a better postseason run in any sport, ever. This is absolutely insane. It’s like they’re having a months-long out of body experience.
I know Twitter’s lifeblood is knee-jerk reaction… but this takes the cake. After just one game of the Finals, some Spurs fans want to trade De’Aaron Fox.
Those of you who follow me know that I have been perhaps the single most critical #Browns fan in the world. I’ve hated virtually everything this team has done since 1999. I think Jimmy Haslam is a disaster, and that it’s the single worst sports organization of all-time. I’m the guy who correctly predicted an absolute debacle of a season in 2024 when everybody thought we were going to the Super Bowl.
Having said all that, this is the first time with the new Browns — and I mean the first time EVER — that I am actually optimistic about the direction of the franchise.
I’m just gonna say it…
On the single most important play in this franchise’s 27 year history, and the biggest snap of Myles Garrett’s career, he actually gave up on the play. #Browns
Ask yourself this, #Browns fans… if CLE had gotten 2 first-rounders, a second, and a third for Myles Garrett, would you have been happy?
If so, then get happy. Because the Browns actually did better than that.
Yeah no we get it. But MG is worth 2 firsts and Verse. That’s the point. I’m not sure people who think this is a good deal, get it. Crosby was garnering 2 firsts and Sauce was traded for two 1s and MG is way better than both of them.
I don’t think the most #Browns fans are appreciating Jared Verse’s value in this trade.
His 2024 draft was loaded, but there are experts who think if they re-drafted in 2024, Verse would go 5th overall, behind only the 4 QBs.
Players who many think he would go before:
Malik Nabers
Brock Bowers
Joe Alt
Marvin Harrison
Quinton Mitchell
Ladd McConkey
Rome Odunze
Any #Browns fan complaining about not getting multiple 1st-rounders for Myles Garrett is simply wrong.
Jared Verse IS a 1st-round pick. In fact, he’s better than a 1st-rounder because he’s a proven NFL star — something you can’t say about a rookie you draft in the 1st round.
The Myles Garrett trade just reinforces how the NFL has become ALL about the QB.
Garrett plays what most experts would consider the 2nd most important position on the field. He’s been the best defensive player in the NFL for a decade. And his team was awful for nearly his entire 9 years with the #Browns.
The best QB in the league could never go 54-79-1. Even 79-54-1 wouldn’t come close.
You’re not getting over the hump without a great QB. Until that happens, nothing else matters.
I’m not sure most #Browns fans realize that Jared Verse is a 25-year-old DROY and 2x Pro Bowler who would go as high as 5th overall if they redid the loaded 2024 draft.
The #Browns got a high-first round talent, another first rounder, a second rounder and a third rounder for a 30-year-old non-QB who had a no-trade clause.
Sorry, but that’s a nice haul.
To further the point that Myles wasn’t a big-game guy for the #Browns…
His best sack years (‘21, ‘22, ‘25) came in losing seasons.
He was on 2 playoff teams. In the last 7 games of ‘20 & the last 6 of ‘23 (13 games total) he had a combined 4 sacks & 11 TFLs.
He played 3 playoff games, and had a combined 1 sack and 1 TFL.
I love Myles Garrett. Who doesn’t? But the fact is, he’s never been much of a big game player. Not that the #Browns have had a lot of big games, but when they have, Garrett has largely disappeared.
It’s days like this that I don’t understand why I’m not the most popular and successful Cleveland sports media figure of ‘em all.
If I do say so myself. 😉 #Browns
Despite the rumors, the #Browns were never getting 3 firsts for a 30-year-old. But they got the next best thing: a 1st, 2nd & 3rd plus a 25-year-old DROY and 2-time Pro Bowl edge who was a 1st himself. Verse is worth a 1st-plus. He’s a sure thing, unlike 90% of NFL 1st-rounders.
In other words, the #Browns got 2 first-rounders, a second-rounder and a third-rounder for Myles Garrett.
They weren’t going to beat that given the no-trade clause.
