Over the weekend, I built a 4 layer Deep Neural Network from scratch to classify MNIST digits. No TensorFlow. No PyTorch. Just pure Python, NumPy, and raw calculus.

I addedjust one line of code:
X_train = X_train / 255.0
this resolved the issues, the gradients flowed, and the accuracy shot from 11% to 87% in just 50 iterations. The simplest bugs really do hurt the most. π
