i don't think people realize or understand how incredibly pmf
@HyperliquidX is, or is going to be, coming into this market over the next few months/years
so i'm gonna break it down for you. probably my first and last detailed bull-post re: hyperliquid
ignoring everything about the tech and decentralization yada yada and the original ethos of what crypto stands for --
i think we can all agree that this space has always revolved around speculation and the pumps
if we take only that into consideration, it is clear that HL will be the dominant force going forward with all the ways they have built and engineered their platform to work. and is quite uniquely positioned to fill a gap in the space
///////////////
defi has always been a core sector in crypto and one of its best use cases by far, if you ask me. but the problem with it is quite apparent once you start trying to onboard anyone new and get them to try it out
like what even is this, no disrespect to the old guard that basically built the foundation of defi. but do we really expect newcomers and retail to understand and get excited about using products like this?
the AMM system is prehistoric and should be a thing of the past imo. instead, we have the perp/spot orderbook system on HL which frankly is such a massive improvement and much easier to use and understand
don't even get me started on single/double sided liquidity pools and other more complex products in the defi space
although, the HL vaults aren't exactly a novel concept in crypto, the way they've made it work is so easy for users both veterans and newbies alike to understand and participate in that providing liquidity and earning yield has never been easier
retail demand for plug and play easy to use defi products and yield can be proven easily with one case study alone, LUNA and anchor protocol from last cycle. and hyperliquid has positioned itself quite perfectly to fill this gap in the market whether you believe it or not
enter HLP, HL's literal golden goose, which they gave away to their community completely for free. without needing any complex knowledge of crypto, you simply deposit and earn quite frankly a risk free yield on your dollars. they could have kept it to themselves and milked all the underwater perp traders for all of eternity, but our lord and savior jeff is truly built different
the next step would be protocol owned vaults running their own strategy and allowing simple deposits from users which is simply a better solution to what we have existing and you cannot convince me otherwise. users can easily onboard and deposit without being bombarded with info dump and unfamiliar UI
even as is, user-owned vaults allow for easy perps copy trading which is a staple feature on many CEXes. this is just HL drinking more of their milkshake and i think it should reveal the approach that they are taking when it comes to eating into the market share of the gigantic CEX industry. there will most certainly be more of such features to come
at the core of the thesis, it seems that HL is obsessed with building a cult-like community and rewarding their users handsomely which, judging by their unprecedented TGE, has paid off immensely and clearly is the right way to go about doing things
lastly, i don't really have a compelling argument regarding the way spot coins are handled and launched with the dutch auction. i personally think it is better that there isn't an unlimited supply of new tokens coming out every single day, but we will find out soon enough
///////////////
of course, there are some caveats here, which i personally also have slight concerns about. namely, the technical execution of EVM compatibility, potential legal issues arising, and i'm also slightly worried that the team isn't earning enough since pretty much all platform fees are going to users in HLP. how do they plan on expanding and growing a bigger team?
but judging by how smoothly things have been going and how meticulous they are about every minute detail, i find it hard to believe they haven't already covered all bases
i guess time will tell
///////////////
taking all of this into consideration, you can start to see that the vision is to build a one-stop solution for users whether it's for perps/spot coins/memes/defi
the target audience for L1s has always been the entire pie of retail users and speculators and i don't see any other project building something as comprehensive or intuitive as
@HyperliquidX, period
we are witnessing the inception of a future behemoth in the space, and you have the opportunity to get in on the ground level here
it may take some time to play out, but all signs point toward that. and at the time of writing, this is probably one of the best asymmetric bets you can make on degeneracy and the future growth of our space as a whole, in my humble opinion
