Game 3: Down 4 early, River Forest used a 10-0 1st quarter run to take a 13-7 lead. East Chicago Central battled back to take a 15-14 edge, but RF answered with 6 straight to take the lead back. They built their lead up to 41-32 early the 4th quarter, but ECC went to their press and created some quick turnovers and cut it to 45-41. The momentum appeared to be shifting to ECC, but over about a 40 second span around the 3:00 minute mark, their top 4 scorers (at that point) fouled out and ECC was called for 3 technical fouls (2 by different players at different times & 1 on the coach after the 2nd). RF went on to win 57-46. Overall, there were 69 FTs shot, 38 by RF and 31 by ECC. Sr Khaliya Randell (pictured) led the way for River Forest, hitting a pair of 3s & taking advantage of the parade to the FT line by hitting 10-for-13 at the charity stripe to amass a game-high 22 points. Sr Kaliea Jeffrey hauled down 10 rebounds, while sr Amy Arana played scrappy at the point and led RF with 4 steals & 6 assists. Sr Rayna Cary added 11 points, 7 rebounds, & 6 assists. For East Chicago Central, Sr Lela Edmonds posted a 20-&-10 double-double along with 5 assists while battling head-to-head with Randell all game. Soph Sasha Hawkins, the only starter on the floor at the end, scored 5 points in the last 3:00 & fell just short of a double-double with 8-&-13. Jr Kierra Standfield (a normal starter, I am guessing) came into the game in the 2nd quarter and immediately impacted ECC's defensive intensity; she hustled her way to 8 rebounds & 3 steals. Fr Carliylah Spikes had a solid first game of her HS career with 8 rebounds & 4 steals.
