Three years after Antonio Carter earned the @WGAESF scholarship, Rachael did the same and will attend Maryland. “It means opportunity – not only an opportunity to chase my dreams, but it’s also an opportunity for me to pave the way for other young black girls in golf,” she said.

Landon O’Hara, a 16-year-old, summed it up, saying, “Definitely didn’t play the way I wanted to. But it’s a learning experience. It’s my first time out here. Even though I didn’t play how I wanted to, I’m still happy that I made it this far and that I was able to compete today.”

“I think he’s going to go there and play very well on Monday,” @CalvertHallGolf coach @itsahooded4iron said of O'Hara. “Obviously, there’s a fine line between making it and playing well and not making it, but I fully anticipate him playing well. He is an extraordinary player.”

A 13-0 start was a highlight for @MarylandWLax. “I think it gave us a lot of confidence,” Kori Edmondson said. “Obviously when you win games, it gives a lot of momentum. ... We were just buying into what the coaches were giving us and the game plan.”
There was a certain level of pride in Kori Edmondson’s voice when the senior midfielder discussed Maryland women’s lacrosse’s achievements this spring, including the program’s first trip to the Final Four since 2022. But that should not be mistaken for satisfaction. “There’s still work to be done,” said Edmondson, a Severn resident and McDonogh graduate. Read more: bit.ly/3SmS3so 📸: Courtesy of Maryland Athletics

Apologies for the late-night post. Thankful for the trust of some @UMBC_WLacrosse players who shared their thoughts on the dismissal of their head coach, Amy Slade. Friday afternoon's announcement by athletic director Tiffany Tucker "blindsided" them. baltimoresun.com/2026/05/23/…

Great profile by @BWagner_CapGaz, especially this quote from Edmondson. “As a captain, I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself to get this team to Memorial Day weekend,” Edmondson said. “I’m so happy we finally checked that box, but now I want to win a national championship.”
Maryland women’s lacrosse has a history of developing all-around midfielders who can contribute on offense, defense and the draw circle. Kori Edmondson is the latest, following in the footsteps of such standouts as Caitlyn McFadden, Katie Schwarzmann, Taylor Cummings and Zoe Stukenberg. Those four all-time greats were all winners of the prestigious Tewaaraton Award. Edmondson has been a rare four-year starter and two-year captain for the Terps, who advanced to the Final Four for the 29th time in program history. No. 3 seed Maryland will face No. 2 seed North Carolina on Friday in Evanston, Illinois. Read more: bit.ly/3PyLe6g 📸: Maryland Athletics

“Knowing the work that these attorneys have put in on behalf of people – most of whom they will never meet – it means a lot,” Gelbard said Monday. “Knowing that I can benefit financially from work that I’ve already done, it’s very validating to my work as a volunteer assistant.”
Heather Gelbard is on the cusp of getting paid five years after her time as a volunteer softball coach at South Carolina. Gelbard, who was UMBC’s head coach in 2017 and 2018, has filed a claim seeking compensation from a $303 million settlement with the NCAA in a wage-fixing class-action lawsuit. Approved on May 11 by a federal judge in California, the agreement will pay volunteer assistants in sports other than baseball at least $5,000 for unpaid work. “This is my third year here, but this team has felt so different in terms of us all being on the same page in terms of what we want,” said @MarylandWLax goalkeeper JJ Suriano, who made a game-high nine saves. “I think this is the hungriest team I’ve ever been on.”
