In-person, handwritten examinations are the only way forward. A thesis, where necessary, is useful, but coursework as the principal form of assessment simply must be scrapped.
It is time that university management recognised this basic fact.

Mahmoud Molaei, 21 years old, is the sole provider for his mother and younger sister.
On January 8 in Mashhad, he was arrested while returning home from work. He didn’t even have his phone with him.
In court, the judge sentenced Mahmoud to 5 years in prison solely for having tattoos. With no evidence, no crime, and no access to a lawyer.
Mahmoud’s last words were:
“I just want to hug my mother and sister one last time, because I know I will die under this torture.”
