During our field visit to Oyo State, EERC team and partners assessed proposed locations for a makeshift cassava processing centre in Saki to identify suitable site that will support efficient cassava processing and contribute to value addition within the cassava sector.

Yesterday, EERC held inception meeting of the Entrepreneurship Capacity Building in Agribusiness and Establishment of Makeshift Processing Centres Project, supported by IDH under the Women in Sourcing and Enterprise (WISE) Programme.

The project is designed to strengthen livelihoods and promote inclusive agribusiness development through the establishment of 13 commercially viable makeshift cassava processing centres, while building the entrepreneurial and technical capacity of beneficiaries.
Project Director, Prof. Kola Adebayo presented a comprehensive outlook on the project’s vision, structure, and sustainability strategy, demonstrating how the initiative seeks to strengthen cassava value chains, create employment opportunities, and support local agribusiness.
Speaking at the meeting, EERC Executive Director, Dr. Oluwatoyin Adeyanju, emphasized the importance of deliberate investments in skills development, innovation, and market systems, as critical drivers for transforming livelihoods and strengthening rural economies.
