Over a year on from the launch of Sheffield City Councilβs Clean Air Zone, annual average data for 2023 shows that the level of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) from road traffic pollution has fallen significantly across the city.
Due to the silence from our @UKLabour representatives this week in regard to public transport we have to conclude that @SouthYorksMCA didnβt have a plan ready to go like their colleagues in Manchester did.

In short, Sheffield is getting a bus stop whilst Manchester steams ahead with bran new tramlines and a real plan. This in the week a Sheffield MP was made the transport secretary

The Sheffield Connect bus now stops outside Atkinsons!
The new stop is MF1 on Charter Row, after passengers asked for the free, zero-emission bus to connect them to even more of the city centre.

Unfortunately due to many failures to govern on public transport both nationally and locally our current network here in Sheffield and South Yorkshire is an absolute mess. We were hoping to hear about change today from the transport secretary but Manchester got all her attention

The Council is working closely with the Mayoral Combined Authority to develop a new, exciting vision that will set out our tram expansion plans.
I will continue to press the Government for greater funding for public transport in Sheffield.
