The Social Democrats candidate Daniel Ennis has emerged ahead in the first preference vote.
He appears to be the favourite to win this seat, which had until now been held by Paschal Donohoe (FG).
The left-wing opposition (SD, SF, Green, PBP–S, Labour) is up by 7 points compared with the last election, while the governing parties (FG–FF) are down by nearly 11 points.
