This is a really weird open. NO ONE thought Spencer Pratt could win the mayoral race on June 2nd because he COULDN"T POSSIBLY DO THAT. He could, possibly, advance to the run-off. A run-off he was certian to lose. The notion that a city that voted 70% Harris in 2024 is going to elect Spencer Pratt in as its new mayor is idiotic. For a guy who is supposedly on the ropes, Graham Platner is going gangbusters in Maine. At this hour, he's running 12,000 votes ahead of Sara Gideon (in Dem Senate primary of 2020). Gideon's total vote back then was ~116K with 100% of the precincts reporting. Platner, with 80% of the precincts reporting, is at ~128K and counting. When all the votes are counted, he may end up at ~145K, 30K votes ahead of Gideon's number. Maine's population has grown 3.4%. So it's not that.

A terrible choice, obviously. Manifestly unqualified, tempermentally unsuited, illegal (significant experience required by law) etc. And insulting to the people who actually do the work. wapo.st/3PSwoaY
