With @camillapenney - looking at University land ownership and access in Cambridge (antipodeonline.org/2023/11/2…). Follow @camlandjustice for ongoing work on land justice in the city.
@camillapenney @ElsaNoterman’s support and solidarity allowed us to start Cambridge land justice — this is a crucial read on power in this city, and how we can take it back.
'She said she was taking part in the strikes for her students: “I don’t want them to live in a world where employers can bully staff and steal their wages for months.”'

Here. We. GO! Pens down. We pick them up again when we've got better contracts. #AbsolutelyMABulous#MABbing
All VCs losing their cool & threatening punitive deductions communicate is that they (1) don't respect staff & (2) are scared.
We've got this. We've got each other.
ALT Absolutely MABulous (Marking & Assessment Boycott). Little picket line of lego figures with hot pink ucu beanies
Very glad to confirm that SOLIDARITY WORKS! In our branch meeting today we voted to accept an agreement to stand down our local action in return for non-implementation of ASOS deductions.
ALT THE UNIVERSITY WILL:
1. Withdraw the notices sent to members of staff (in the context of the current disputes) of pay
deductions for action short of a strike (“ASOS”) taken in furtherance of trade disputes.
2. No longer require staff to provide confirmation that they have “made up” education lost as a
result of industrial action, whilst allowing for normal workplace discussions to take place within
Schools without penalty or detriment to individuals.
3. Instead reserve the right to make deductions for ASOS.
4. Not rely upon the Student Reporting Form in so far as it relates to staff participation in industrial
action.
IN CONSIDERATION OF THE ABOVE QMUCU WILL:
1. (In so far as is reasonably practicable and whilst adhering to any industrial action called by UCU
locally and nationally) work with the university to help ensure that students achieve a high
quality academic experience that allows them to continue to progress and complete their
studies in a timely manner.
2. Withdraw the furth
We express our objection in the strongest possible terms to the decision by @QMUL management to continue with its 100% pay deduction policy against @qm_ucu currently undertaking industrial action, and urge management to face up to the issues which have led to strike action.
BREAKING! Students have occupied the lecture block on Sidgwick site of @Cambridge_Uni in solidarity with our #UCUstrike. More details coming soon. We stand together as striking staff and students to defend education!
