Has anyone successfully used significance tests on their GCSE results (eg T test)? I’m thinking I may have to buy SPSS to do it properly @Headfornothing1 @mrsouthernmaths@vicky_maths@mathsjem @SLTchat @newtosltchat@slt
What do you wish you’d realised about life earlier? For me, it’s that my mum was always right about who were my good friends and who were bad friends. Such wisdom!
Do any KS2/KS3 teachers have any nice ideas for how to demonstrate the different meanings of subtraction? In particular my y7s don’t understand the idea of “difference between two numbers” and associated mental methods. @mathsjem@LNEMathsHub@mathninja3@mathscpdchat
This will certainly cause problems later on if not sorted properly now, such as when we start to use negative numbers or when we work with gradient calculations.
It’s remarkable how quickly we are able to shift between doing break duty, finding lost PE bags, etc. to teaching evidence-informed lessons, coaching other staff, reading research, planning a big project. The mix of operational minutiae and big picture vision is astounding! 😵😂
Has anyone planned or taught a GCSE F maths lesson specifically on “explain” or “justify” type questions? I know these cover every topic but I want to do a lesson looking specifically at these question types and I can’t find much online to help me. 🙏🏼
This thread is so interesting and also so reassuring for Senior leaders who have spent the last five years trying to reduce marking workload! I want teachers to have time with their families and time for joint planning! 💪🏻 #win
In the last five years many schools have moved away from onerous deep marking policies. This created a lot of time. Interested in how this has been filled. Teachers - what are you now doing instead?
(Not so) hypothetical question here. How should an AHT respond to a HoD who publicly comments on (and offers advice on) their breast size? @WomenEdLondon@WomenEd @sylviashelly

My little business started with just the planner and has now branched into other stationery too. I want to keep creating products to help benefit those in education. What new products would you like to see? 😊 educatedminds.co.uk/thehappy…@HughesHaili @FunkyPedagogy
What do you maths teachers do for your first maths lesson of the year? I have two new classes (y7 and y8, mixed ability) and a y11 class that I’ve taught for 2 years already. I feel like I don’t want to do my usual “classroom rules and routines” again… any creative ideas?
I just had a great coaching session with @peg_hulse where we discussed different approaches to coaching. I am pondering what my main role is as a coach. If you’re a coach or have ever been a coachee, I’d love to hear your thoughts . (Explanation of options below.)
