First we had an emergency room. As we provided more and more services, we grew into departments with dozens of beds. Now all our beds are filled with inpatients and we once again have a single emergency room - one that we used to call the waiting room.

Hi, A lot of my professional work as a doctor has been in fragile countries (Burundi, eastern DR Congo). At times when leaders threaten protesters & send in military to ‘quell the violence’. What follows is always horrible, saddening, & inhumane. This can’t be our country.
