September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month💜
Too many women are dismissed or misdiagnosed, and myths about gynae cancers add to the problem.
Let’s bust a big one⬇️ #GynaeCancerAwarenessMonth
(I’m all too aware of my privilege & appreciate that for disabled people, this is a constant prejudice and injustice.)
But once you’re tuned into the lack accessibility for parents, babies & kids in our culture, shit it makes you angry.
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. We believe it’s a good day to challenge some assumptions about suicide & one of the biggest is -
- If a person is suicidal then there's nothing you can do.
This is not true.

Today would have been Claire’s 43rd birthday.
As we mark our first birthday without her and Gynaecological Cancers Awareness Month, we remember Claire not only for her strength, humour, and determination - but for the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
Listen up: It's time to stop whispering about suicide.
We are losing too many to silence. Help us shout about saving lives today, on #SamaritansAwarenessDay.
Let’s prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.
Anyone interested in 2 very good tickets for The Book of Mormon at Wales Millennium centre tomorrow? It’s a matinee performance at 2:30. They were £70 each but will sell them much cheaper! 😍
It was a real privilege to have Claire on our board - she was brave in what she brought to the table and her own experiences and kindness impacted a lot of our work.
Sending love to everyone who loved her. She was a true inspiration and a really amazing person 💔
The team at Samaritans Cymru are heartbroken by the news that Claire has passed.
Claire joined our Nations Committee following experience of suicide within her family; determined to let people know they are never alone.
She was a great campaigner who leaves a powerful legacy 💚
Volunteers from @SamaritansCymru are on hand if you need to talk.
Through working with organisations like them, we've been able to develop our new mental health and wellbeing strategy.
Don't forget you can call 111 press 2 for urgent mental health support too. 📱
So pleased @SamaritansCymru will be ensuring Lived Experience shapes and engages with this vital new Research Centre, at every turn. It's going to be a real asset for Wales, with influence far beyond.
People with lived experience are at the heart of the Centre. It brings researchers across Wales incl @AmandaMarch7@JonScourfield together with policymakers and practitioners to drive evidence based change . Thankyou to @annaphillipsfn for all you do and your support in this
Today @SamaritansCymru launched their latest impact report in Cardiff Bay.
Thanks to the incredible volunteers across the country, @samaritans are available 24/7 to offer support.

Insightful CPG on suicide prevention this morning. Thrilled with the election of @JulieMorganLAB as chair & we are proud to continue as secretariat.
Our thanks to @sarah4bridgend for attending. It was fantastic to see so many local Welsh voluntary groups engage in discussion.
When I had my 1st child (5 yrs ago), I experienced a MH crisis. I had my 2nd child 10 wks ago & despite being linked in with the perinatal MH team, I’ve only just had a voicemail asking how I am. There is zero opportunity to act preventatively when services are this stretched 🚨
