Prime Minister @AliFalihAlzaidy met today, with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq, Alicia Rico Pérez del Pulgar. The Ambassador conveyed the congratulations of Spanish Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon on the occasion of the government gaining the confidence of the Council of Representatives and the formation of the new government. She also affirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Spain and expanding cooperation across various fields. During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the depth of the distinguished relations between the two countries and Iraq’s readiness to further develop and advance them, particularly in the economic, development, and investment sectors, in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two friendly peoples. For her part, the Spanish Ambassador praised the achievements of the Iraqi government in strengthening state sovereignty and restricting arms to state authority, affirming that these steps contribute to consolidating stability and improving the investment environment. She also expressed the interest of Spanish companies in expanding their presence and investments in Iraq and participating in the development opportunities the country is witnessing.

Prime Minister @AliFalihAlzaidy received today a congratulatory message from Spanish Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon, who extended his congratulations on the formation of the new government and expressed his best wishes for its success following the Council of Representatives’ vote of confidence. In his message, Prime Minister Sanchez expressed his desire to meet with Prime Minister Al-Zaidi, affirming that the excellent bilateral relations between Iraq and Spain will continue under Al-Zaidi’s government in a manner that achieves mutual benefit. He also noted the interest of Spanish companies in operating in Iraq, alongside expanding trade and increasingly diversified strategic cooperation. The Spanish Prime Minister further affirmed in his message that Iraq’s role is fundamental to achieving lasting peace during this critical period for the region, pointing to the strong security partnership between the two countries, including within the framework of the NATO Mission in Iraq, which Spain will be leading in the current period.
