Last Saturday at London International Conference my presentation focus on core coaching competence: communication! Having 'talk to much' to players myself in the past, I had challenged coaches how to make learning stick and impact on players learning behaviours. Through series of highly engaging 'communication exercises' coaches can experiences how their own communication impact players they are coaching. The real value for coaches was to understand that effective communication is an intentional process that help players understand and reflect on what they experienced. The way coaches sent the message It’s a core competency that ensures training has a real impact. Looking at how the 'room' was vibrant and engaging with content , it demonstrate that workshop provoked their thinking and encourage to carefully plan their messages next time they communicate their messages to the players. The value of entire event was to provoke and challenge coaches to reflect and learn about their own coaching actions rather than focus to evaluate and analyse players performances.
