Beautiful, democratically-controlled, permanently affordable housing for all isn’t a pipe dream: it’s social housing, and I’m fighting to bring it NY. We can have housing that allows people to live with dignity and supports our climate goals. But we have to organize for it.

I was proud to get arrested with Brad last September, and I'm proud to stand with him now. Vote for Brad. Abolish ICE.
My trial in federal court is today. I just spoke outside the courthouse alongside @JuliaCarmel__, who is serving as a witness in the case. Since ICE started abducting asylum-seekers one year ago, I’ve been court-watching along with thousands of you. During one of these sessions last September, I was arrested along with 75 New Yorkers and 10 other elected officials, as we demanded access to the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza, where ICE was detaining people in hideous conditions. In December, I pleaded “not guilty” instead of taking a plea deal that would have required that I not protest in a federal building for six months. Let’s be clear: the crime was not what we were doing at 26 Federal Plaza. The crime is what ICE is doing there. We must stand up fearlessly against Trump & his rogue ICE agents to protect our immigrant neighbors and the rule of law. That’s what I was doing when I was arrested, and that’s what I’m doing today.

Undrinkable water. Explosions that cause cracks through neighbors' homes. Exploding utility rates. Data centers are harming communities across the country. We MUST protect people over tech billionaires.
NEW: We brought @AOC to deep red Georgia to talk data centers. We found a data center rebellion, with people willing to radically shift their politics. One conservative voter said: "If there's a chance that anything can be done, I feel like she's gonna be the one to do it."

My Anti-Shackling Bill & Tampons Aren’t Contraband Act will head to the Governor’s desk by the end of this year! To highlight the Anti-Shackling Bill: it would ensure no one is ever handcuffed while they give birth, which is what happened a few weeks ago in a Brooklyn courtroom

Pregnant people should not be shackled. Period. As we saw when a woman gave birth in shackles last month in a BK courtroom, this isn't a hypothetical concern. The Governor should sign this bill. gothamist.com/news/ny-lawmak…

In some neighborhoods around NYC, storefront vacancies hover at nearly 1 in 4. A Manhattan Chamber of Commerce survey found 16% of storefront owners are considering closing in the next year. We need commercial rent stabilization, now. thecityreporter.nyc/2026/06/…

We have a few hours left of session for the year. We should take up and pass this important bill!
The Maternal Health, Dignity and Consent Act now has bipartisan support! Thank you, Assemblymember Morinello, for your support on this legislation. Let’s get it over the finish line

By passing common sense protections to rein in data centers, we can protect people over tech and fossil fuel oligarchs. We have more to do, but this is a huge step.

Preach.
Amazon sets the routes, the quotas, the uniforms, the cameras — and then tells workers they don't actually work for Amazon. Every delivery worker in this city should be able to afford to live here and have their rights respected. Workers deserve better.

Last year, @SalazarSenate & I fought to ensure the SCOC included reform-minded commissioners, including one who is formerly incarcerated. Mr. Dockery knows firsthand how Kafkaesque our prison system is. I can't wait to see what he does to improve it. cityandstateny.com/politics/…

I couldn’t be prouder to vote YES on the data center omnibus bill, which includes a year-long moratorium and protections for local communities & labor. Huge kudos to my district partner & fellow Socialist @SenGonzalezNY. This wouldn’t have happened without your leadership!!

Good morning to everyone fighting the corporate lobby onslaught in Albany. Yes, New Yorkers want to ban surveillance pricing. Yes, New Yorkers want the Consumer Grocery Pricing Fairness Act to stop food deserts and protect consumers and independent grocers. Yes, New Yorkers want a five-year moratorium on the sale of AI-powered chatbot toys.

A statement on the horrific situation at Delaney Hall—unlivable, inhumane conditions so poor that 300 detained immigrants are on hunger strike, as well as the violent repression of the protestors who showed up in solidarity.

Every single Socialist in Office in New York State signed this statement, amplifying the demands of detained immigrants. We stand in solidarity with them and with the people who have shown up in their defense. Abolish ICE. End for-profit detention. Free them all.

UPDATE! The bill we passed in the Assembly last month, No Toxic Tents, just passed the Senate. It's going to the Governor's desk. Once she signs it, no state in the US will require dangerous, unnecessary flame retardant chemicals in tents. The whole market can finally shift!

Healthcare is a human right. Proud to be a champion for the New York Health Act alongside my friend & colleague @phara4assembly!
Replying to @NYHCampaign
Assemblymembers @EmilyAssembly and @phara4assembly are two of the fiercest voices in the NYS Assembly. They are fighting relentlessly to pass the New York Health Act to bring guaranteed healthcare, lower costs, and more responsible spending to New York. Vote by June 23rd.

Allowing New Yorkers to create their own solar energy will bring down bills and emissions. It’ll expand the group of people who are personally invested in renewable energy. This is a very popular bill with ConEd support. The Gov should sign it. gothamist.com/news/new-yorke…

Data centers are a giveaway to tech oligarchs on the backs of New Yorkers. They suck up energy, raise our utility rates, hog our water, and pollute our environment. They are coming online faster than policy—we need a moratorium while we develop a regulatory approach.
