So thrilled that "Artists Remaking Medicine" is featured on @NPR Shots! Thank you @MaraGordonMD for such a thoughtful write-up that explores the inspiration for the book and the (many, many) stories of artists changing the culture of medicine. npr.org/sections/health-shot…

I asked Tim Walz about IVF politics in February. "My wife and I used Mayo Clinic reproductive services, and my daughter Hope was named Hope for a reason," he said. "Because married for eight years, no children, wanting children. We got Hope because of this type of stuff."

Thank you @JeremyNobel1 for the incredible book "Project Unlonely." I've been using both the framework for thinking about the three types of loneliness and the creative/effective solutions recommended in my work with clients ever since reading it!

🚨New @nberpubs with @andrewolenski on major hidden profits in the healthcare sector! Bear with me as I explain how nursing homes are able to hide almost 2/3 of their profits from regulators and the public! I promise it's worth it! 🧵1/17 Paper: nber.org/papers/w32258

#Healthcare needs #stories to restore the human part of it. Stories create connection, #empathy, and more. If that can't be remembered and promoted, then positivity can come out. physicianspractice.com/view/… @EmilyFPeters

Just so ya'll know, a group of physicians have been quietly making real progress on fixing prior authorization. Check out what's been happening in New Jersey. It's small, but it's something. 👇 @TinaShahMD @statnews @nishamehtamd @DrDevikaB

This is the diarrheal ward in a pediatric hospital in Peru. I was there during the height of diarrhea season. It was totally empty after being overflowing a few years before. The difference? The rotavirus vaccine. #Vaccineswork

We talk a lot about overall health spending, but less about the profit pools. Super interesting lens from @McKinsey here. They peg the overall U.S. healthcare profit pool at ~$580B in 2022, with 40-45% of that flowing to providers and ~10% to payers. h/t @SebastianCaliri

My amazing brother was just named "Sportswriter of the Year" for California! ✨
Well shoot. I am honored deeply by this. I value local journalism and my role in it and I have poured myself into this @sacbee_news since 1989. I'm glad people value our work. So many good stories to be told on the local front. Thanks for making my day!

It's official. CPT codes for the time spent on prior authorization are being submitted to the CPT Editorial Panel. Physicians should communicate their thoughts about #PriorAuthCPT #WrongfulDenialAppealCPT to the AMA, Specialty Societies, state medical societies.
The @AmerMedicalAssn Counsel for Medical Service should submit the request to CPT Editorial Panel. As you recall in June #PriorAuthCPT #WrongfulDenialAppealCPT garnered the most support of ANY resolutions. The membership has spoken clear and loud. mobile.twitter.com/DrAlexUro…
