Todays @AHDB_Cereals monitor farm session on building Personal Resilience was superb. No exaggeration to say it was probably the most valuable farm meeting I have attended, and I have been subjected to ALOT of them in the past 10 years. A subject that should be at the forefront of everyones mind, especially in such a tough industry - yet it gets nowhere near the air time required. I can count on 2 fingers the amount of times this subject has been the theme of a meeting I have been too. I've taken loads away from the session that I know I will benefit from and also increased the value I bring to the table with current and future clients. Thank you @TheAHDB @paulharriscoach

My 7 pillars of improving my own mental resilience are 1) Prioritising myself - Obviously my family are my everything, but if I don't look after myself first then I wont be the best I can be for them. 2) Sleep - Learning how quality over quantity is key. 3) Walking - Being active whilst switching off. 4) Personal finance - Being intentional and having a firm grip on this area. 5) Cutting out the bullshit - Negative people, the news, pointless meetings...no thanks! 6) Exercise and nutrition - Obvious but so often over looked when we are being run ragged. 7) Being around the right people - Focus on time with people that want to improve as well, not hold me back. What do you focus on to build your mental resilience??? I go into much more detail about these 7 steps and the story behind it all in this newsletter - thanks for reading👍👍👍 #MentalHealthAwareness greenacres.beehiiv.com/p/top…

Great day with @NatOrgSkill regenerative farming course held on the farm lots of questions for the @UnderstandingAg team. Trying high density grazing 250,000kg on 1/3 of a acre for a short period to regenerate the natural seed bank and feed the soil biology interesting approach.

On #peston this week ex Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane said the Bank should pause the lifting of interest rates. Today in @FT he elaborates, warning that the Bank is pursuing a new form of austerity. “Over a decade ago, in pursuit of lower debt, the UK enacted fiscal austerity. This ruptured growth and was self-defeating for debt. Today, in pursuit of lower inflation, monetary austerity risks the same fate. It is time to steer the stampeding herd away from the cliff edge, for the sake of the financial security of millions of people and the credibility of our policy institutions.”

CAN YOU HELP AVA? Meet our daughter Blaire and her friend Ava, both 3 years old and friends at nursery. Unfortunately, Ava has been diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. She's already undergone chemotherapy and other treatments, but still has a long road ahead. There’s more volatile chemotherapy, stem cell treatment and radiotherapy to come and the sad news is that Neuroblastoma has a high risk of returning with a reduced chance of survival. Her family is fundraising for a new vaccination treatment to prevent relapse, which costs £250,000 and is only available in New York USA. Please consider donating to help Ava. This is a link to Ava's Go Fund Me page - gofundme.com/f/help-fund-ava… and there are collection tins in our Mossgiel Snug in Mauchline and Gilmartin’s Bakery in Stewarton, as well as other awesome small businesses in and around Mauchline. We understand that financially, times are really tough for everyone so even if you feel you can't help finically, please share this post and spread the word to give Ava the best chance of beating this! Just £5 from everyone who follows Mossgiel online would raise £190,000! A Facebook page has also been setup to support Ava’s journey at facebook.com/profile.php?id=… #Ava #ChildhoodCancer #Neuroblastoma #Fundraiser See less

Always difficult. I think it's really important that @DefraGovUK look at the requirement to tag calves early, which inevitably leads to tagging at birth. With DNA testing available it is just not necessary. I hope @H_S_E judge the impacts of DEFRA policy as well as us farmers.
This cow has been with us for 7 years, she’s calved every year. She’s one of the quietest cows on the farm. This is why you should never trust any of them. Last night wasn’t a good one. Dani is ok, just bruised, but if she was lone working it could of been different. Hellish.
