I’ve just finished reading @matilda_greig’s Dead Men Telling Tales. Napoleonic War Veterans and the Military Memoir Industry, 1808-1914. It is one of the most thought provoking and rewarding books I’ve read in ages. Greig looks at Memoirs of the Peninsular War written 1/

so refreshing to see conference organisers being candid and emotional about how hard it is to pull an event off, and especially in this context. We should normalise these emotional reactions, and this is definitely one thing I'm taking away from @EnemyEncounters

you should be able to see the recording on the @EnemyEncounters crowdcast. The whole conference was brilliant and @matilda_greig and @FurneauxHolly are closing it with some very promissing remarks - I'd binge-watch the lot if I were you!

Had so much fun talking about what is, in my opinion, the most fascinating object in the @historial1418's collections: a poem written on a cupboard door by German soldiers in the hope that it would be found by British soldiers during the 1917 retreat.
