Delighted to receive a certificate of appreciation from @HantsIOW_fire at a special evening celebrating their partners & volunteers! This highlights our valued partnership & joint patrols between our rangers & fire service volunteers to help promote fire safety in the #NewForest.

ALT A group of people working in a forest perform conservation tasks. They are seen setting up protective structures around trees and installing fencing. Some wear bright orange helmets while others are in green uniforms. The team poses together on a large fallen log, smiling for a group photo. A vehicle with "Forestry England" branding is visible in the background.
This bunch of very special people work with us all year round to carry out conservation tasks, share information about the Forest, and support patrols. ๐
In the past month we've completed 28 #GroundNestingBird patrols with a total of 40 hours of monitoring and engagement.
Lookout for the red signs which indicate rare birds nesting sites. Disturbance will leave eggs & chicks vulnerable to predators.

The #CommonDogViolet thrives in sunny sites and is helped by ponies grazing on competing vegetation. This means the violet can bloom and set seed, which is good news for the rare pearl-bordered fritillary whose caterpillar feeds only on the leaves of violets. ๐ผ๐ณ

Restoring heathlands are having a big impact on increasing biodiversity in the New Forest & across the country.
A two year survey by Wild New Forest & the #NewForestBiodiversityForum discovered many threatened species have come back to these new open areas.

With foals and stallions in the #NewForest weโre asking people to take extra care when out or using the roads. ๐
To help keep everyone safe, and the ponies, please keep your distance. If you want a photo use a zoom and please keep dogs under close control. ๐

ALT A forest scene with numerous slender trees spread across a sun-dappled forest floor. The dense canopy of green leaves filters sunlight, creating a calm and natural atmosphere.
We had a surprise visit to a #NewForest stream recently. This #Razorbill was recorded on a trail camera probably resting after some weather pushed it off course.
The Razorbill is a coastal seabird and would usually be found in marine or intertidal water.

We joined local police & partners this week to help tackle fly-tipping in the #NewForest.
A joint op stopped vehicles carrying waste to check they had the correct licences, two of them didnโt have a waste carriers licence & will need to purchase one within 14 days or be fined.

If you are arranging for anyone to take away waste you can check they are registered to do so on the Environment Agency website.
Thanks to everyone helping to reduce fly-tipping in this special place ๐
From 11 May stallions will be turned out in the New Forest. The following six weeks will be an important period for the ponies and during the breeding season animals may behave unpredictably and cross roads at speed. ๐

Our volunteers have been busy helping us improve habitat for butterflies, specifically the White Admiral.
Using hand tools they've helped clear and widen areas to allow more light to the forest floor to help promote the growth of flora.
