π» STILL WAITING FOR A CHANCE
Across Vietnam, some bears have spent decades in small cages on bear farms.
Every bear deserves the chance to live free from exploitation and experience a more natural environment.
π 23 PROVINCES AND COUNTING
ENV welcomes the news that Thai Nguyen has officially become the 23rd province in Vietnam to end bear farming, following the successful transfer of the province's last captive bear to a rescue center at Bach Ma National Park.
#HappyFriday
This week, a resident in northern Vietnam contacted ENV seeking help to voluntarily transfer two crested goshawks. The birds were later transferred to the rescue center at Hoang Lien National Park, where they can receive appropriate care.
After documenting Facebook posts advertising wild birds, ENV quickly reported the case to authorities in Phu Tho Province. Authorities later verified the subject's identity and issued an administrative fine of approximately $620 USD for illegally advertising wildlife online.
On May 26, after receiving a report from a ENV's volunteer about a bird trapping net set up in a field in southern Vietnam, ENV quickly relayed the information to local authorities.
The site was inspected the following day, and the net was confiscated and destroyed.

#HappyFriday: WALKING INTO THE WEEKEND LIKE...
In late May, a local resident in southern Vietnam voluntarily handed over a Southern buff-cheeked gibbon after reportedly discovering the animal in a coffee plantation. The gibbon was later transferred to Bu Gia Map National Park.
π¨ Vietnam has reduced captive bear numbers by 97%, yet nearly half of the remaining bears are still confined in Hanoi. It's time to end bear farming in Phuc Tho commune - the nation's last major hotspot.

π¦ THE HORN WAS KEPT. THE RHINO WASNβT.
What is truly rare is not the horn. It is the number of rhinos still left in the wild.
ENV continues working to reduce demand for rhino horn and combat the illegal wildlife trade threatening endangered species worldwide. πΏ

π» A BEARβS DREAM
For bears trapped in the bear bile industry, even the simplest parts of a natural life can become something out of reach.
ENV continues working toward a future where bears no longer have to dream about freedom. πΏ
