As the weeklong 27th Coronation Anniversary of King Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the 16th Asantehene of the Asante Region in Ghana draws to a close today, 26th April, the neo realization of african monarchy as a rallying institution for the preservation of African identity was richly espoused as African leaders, diplomats, Ghanaian diaspora, billionaire business moguls and politicians converged on Asanteman to honour a pillar of peace, using his golden stool to unite and give his people a voice. Inviting his brother monarch, His Majesty, Ogiamẹ Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri from Nigeria to celebrate such milestone with him, Otumfuo has further accentuated the undying essence of monarchy as a support base for government; not a competition or a rival arm of authority. Monarchy complements government efforts. Otumfuo himself puts it better during his coronation address, “…even as we focus on peace, we cannot ignore the reality that there are preconditions for the sustenance of peace, good governance, the rule of law and a sound resilient economy”. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana (represented), His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President of Ghana, His Excellency, Her Excellency Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Mahamadu Bawumia, Former Vice President of Ghana, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana (represented), His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Chief Justice of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, President of national house of chiefs - Dassebre Osei Bonsu III- mamponghene, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, former Chairman of the Council of State of the Republic of Ghana and Juabenhene, Dr. Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, Executive Chairman, Jonah Capital Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mr. Alex Dadey, Executive Chairman, KGL Group and Mrs Caroline Padey were some of the high profile figures who graced the unveiling of the Commemorative Gold Coins and presentation of awards to deserving Asante sons and daughters at the Gala night which held at the Kings Palace in Manhyia, Kumasi. #AsanteheneAt27 #27YearsOnGoldenStool #wsnews

Speaking further, His Majesty presented monarchy as a vital stabilising force in contemporary Africa, particularly when it is guided by divine purpose and committed to the welfare of the people. He reflected on the sacred responsibility of the throne, upheld by both divine ordination and ancestral legacy, charging present leaders to surpass the achievements of their predecessors and bequeath a worthy inheritance to future generations. He emphasized that the institution of monarchy embodies cultural authority, moral voice, and continuity.
