Historically, much of the gender gap in earnings could be explained by differences in education and occupational choices. However, this year’s economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin has shown that the bulk of this earnings difference is now between men and women in the same occupation, and that it largely arises with the birth of the first child. #NobelPrize

Where does that leave us? (3) - #GulfStream can’t shut down (since the gyres can’t shut down). - #AMOC possibly can. Recommended *fictional* film.

So, does it matter whether you say #GulfStream or #AMOC? Sure – there is a real difference between the two, in conceptual, mathematical and practical climate terms. You’re still going to say Gulf Stream? No problem! (Unless you’re a marine scientist, then we might grumble.)
