The message was clear: growing climate-resilient food takes time, care & risk. That work must be resourced. Patrick opened the session by sharing our work on unconditional cash transfers as a lever for equity, dignity & regeneration.

Our democracy is dead. It was killed by billionaires who were armed by the Supreme Court. To resurrect our democracy, we need to publicly fund elections, implement universal basic income, end gerrymandering via proportional ranked choice voting, tax wealth, and expand the SCOTUS.
In 2008 (the last election before Citizens United), billionaires accounted for 0.3% of federal election spending. In 2024, 300 billionaires & their immediate families accounted for 19% of all spending, either directly or through PACs, totaling $3B . nytimes.com/2026/03/09/us/bi…

Meanwhile, a community-owned fund is being built to generate ongoing dividends tied to care for the land. This is justice-rooted climate finance, designed with the community, for the community - and it could be a replicable model for nature and climate funding around the world.

100 delegates joined us to discuss how carbon pricing in waste can work in practice. Key takeaway:it only works if it is fair Under Cap and Share, polluters pay and revenues go back to people as climate dividends and adaptation support. Climate policy must return value to people

Big news: Equal Right’s basic income work in Colombia and Tuvalu is featured in New Internationalist. The piece captures something we deeply believe — unconditional cash isn’t just support, it’s climate adaptation built on trust, dignity, and community leadership.
