For freelancers parenting can be hugely complex, and for dance artists this can include the additional pressure of the impact on the body and returning to a physical practice.
If we want to nourish an equitable dance sector, it's important that we all consider this in our work.

This morning we've noticed a few audition call outs that say they are open to D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent dancers.
However, few of them really demonstrate that the audition space or the job would really be a welcoming, accessible workspace.

We don't expect anyone to get it right every time and we are happy to connect companies with experienced advocates for accessible practice to develop. However, this requires more than just words. If you want your work to be more diverse, you need to change how you work.
