According to this, the library at the old high school, current middle school, was named for Dr. Phoebia G. Moore.

ICYMI: State Treasurer Riley Moore presented an unclaimed property check worth over $1 million to a charitable trust set up Dr. Phoebia G. Moore, the first female to study medicine at @WestVirginiaU. The funds will benefit the students of Mannington Middle School.

I was honored to present an unclaimed property check for over $1 million to the Dr. Phoebia G. Moore Trust Fund at Mannington Middle School this week. Established by Dr. Moore, an inspiring WV doctor with a remarkable legacy, the charitable trust will benefit Mannington students.

Sigh. I can identify this street from the houses on the west side of it. Even the fact that I KNOW those houses on the west side tells you I spend WAY too much time looking at photos and Google Maps images of Mannington.
But I love that they are sledding down Hough Street!

This is the actual clock hanging in the mine office near the Llewellyn portal when Consol's No. 9 mine near Mannington and Farmington, WV exploded at precisely 5:27am on Nov. 20 1968, killing 78 men. The explosion stopped it, literally freezing the moment in time

About Larry 2: This Kickstarter is his first novel with a new publisher, Ark Press. (NO, this does not mean he's left Baen. It means he is working with two publishers. Don't read into it.) He has lots more books than MHI and this. Go check out his books!

About Larry 1: His first novel was Monster Hunter International. A NYC editor or publisher (I forget which job) told him there were too many guns in the novel. He considered their advice, then added some more guns and self-published. He became a successful Baen Books author.
