After the UFF 2026 Screenwriting Masterclass, I’m thinking about storytelling differently.
The industry romanticizes creativity, but craft is what sustains narrative.
A screenplay is infrastructure.
Everything else is built on top of it.

The Mastering The Art Of Screenwriting masterclass, conducted by Cissy Nalumansi, gave attendees deeper insight into the business and creative side of storytelling.
From understanding how to build compelling loglines with strong hooks, to learning the importance of elevator pitching and creating effective pitch decks for film and TV projects, participants were encouraged to think beyond writing and embrace networking opportunities within the industry.
Cissy reminded attendees that every space matters, even at the Uganda Film Festival Awards Gala, filmmakers should not only come to celebrate, but also to connect, collaborate and discover who they could work with next.
One of the key highlights from the session was her powerful reminder:
“Filmmaking is a business of trading emotions.”
