Dorsal Midbrain Syndrome (DMS) - Parinaud syndrome This exciting case of DMS, closely followed up over a year, shows that signs and symptoms can persist over time and affect patient quality of life @MervynTh0mas @KuhtHelen @Esha__P pn.bmj.com/content/early/202…

This is incredible: In the RECOVERY trial, one hospital organisation in one city has recruited 1,000 patients. To put it in context: 1 in 3 COVID hospital inpatients were included 1 in 20 RECOVERY participants are from Leicester Thank you to all staff & patients @Leic_hospital
Yesterday, Leicester’s hospitals recruited their 1,000th patient to the #RECOVERYtrial, which is investigating treatments for #COVID19 Thank you to the patients and everyone involved @Leic_hospital 👏 👏 Read more ➡️ recoverytrial.net/news/leice…

If you see a patient struggling with eating their food or drinking a sip of water, go help them. It’s everyone’s role to help out - doctors, HCAs, nurses, pharmacists etc ✌🏽#MedTwitter #FY1 #EveryLittleHelps #TeamWork

My final #tipsfornewdocs - the only reason to make friends at work, is when you’re hanging out all day with you friends, it’s not really work.

Really, really tired of hearing that the #leicesterlockdown is due to a lack of 'education' in BAME households- this does nothing but further a racist stereotype. What about the unaddressed poverty, deprivation and inequality in these areas?

Some great research from Nystagmus UK Eye Research Group, which includes our very own Leicester’s Ophthalmology team!
So pleased the first paper from the Nystagmus UK Eye research group (NUKE) is out and is freely available to benefit everyone investigating and managing nystagmus in children. nature.com/articles/s41433-0…

People need to remember a little bit of compassion can go a long way!

My 1st draft was a lot more passive aggressive. When a junior has to take leave for a family bereavement, do not: - ask for details why - ask if they'll be back tomorrow - schedule them to present at the mortality and morbidity meeting in 2 days time

Really great to see how good communication inc videocalling families can have such a positive impact on patient care!

Even more important is the communication he had with my wife. She wasn’t allowed in the ICU, and he took the time to empathize and answer all her questions, and even set up a zoom call once I could put together a sentence. His effect on our experience through this is immeasurable
