At this rate, Arm is soon worth more than Intel. Was Hermann Hauser right about Arm after all?
Arm's recent run:
- This week, Google announced an Arm-based Data Center CPU, called Axion, with reportedly better performance than Intel's x86 counterpart.
- Last year, Nvidia announced it would sell Arm-based chips for Windows PC as soon as 2025 in major challenge to Intel (to compete against Apple's very popular Arm-based M-chip)
- More generally, Arm is capitalising on the high demand for high-performance chips, shifting from a royalty rate of 50 cents to $1 per core, towards royalties north of $100 for SoCs (System-on-a-Chip) with 100 cores.
