DYK that some landlords are imposing a $60 fee on renters for utilizing online portals to pay their rent? These unnecessary charges further exacerbate the challenges households already burdened by rent expenses face. Let's put an end to these unjustifiable fees. #EndJunkFees

This tenant organizing $ is important. There’s a tremendous power imbalance in our housing system tilting heavily in favor of landlords at expense of renters. Tenant organizing & empowerment are essential to rebalancing power & ensuring safe/affordable homes.
.@POTUS believes, as do I, that every American deserves access to safe, accessible, and affordable housing. That’s why we are taking significant strides to protect tenants and increase fairness in the rental market. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room…

Today, I signed bills that will move us forward on preventing homelessness, helping individuals experiencing homelessness, and easing the path to building more housing in every part of the state. Thank you, legislators and advocates, for making progress. Let’s keep going!

The city of eugene passed renter protections phase 2 on a 5-2. We now have increased protections for security deposits, application processes, and no cause eviction relocation assistance. The city is now tracking evictions in a comprehensive way. BIG WIN for renters!

"I understand economics...but how much can you tighten your belt? My clothes are now hand-me -downs and my three pairs of shoes need new soles." YES on SB 611B. For Rita and for all the elders and families facing predatory rent increases. #orleg

Here's what's happening in Oregon and why we need SB 611. Rents are unaffordable and people are living on the edge. One unexpected car repair bill and they fall behind on their rent and face eviction. #orleg
“In the 10 states and 34 cities that [Eviction Lab] tracks, the number of such cases filed rose from around 6,600 in April 2020 during the pandemic to over 96,800 in January.” Via @RFI_En rfi.fr/en/business-and-tech/…

Lucy's building is newer, so it's exempt from the rent limit. Now her 17-year-old daughter has taken a job to help cover the extreme rent increase they received to help them avoid homelessness. Watch her powerful testimony here. #orleg olis.oregonlegislature.gov/l…...
