Went and saw Roger Daltrey last night at The Piece Hall. Lovely place, as is the case for most 18th-century cloth halls renovated into open-air venues. Daltrey was in great form, too. Another legend scratched off the list.

A pleasure to have interviewed Pulp guitarist Mark Webber on a ridiculously hot day in Bilbao, Spain. I spent three days afterwards bedridden by the heat, like a sunburnt Proust. Don't meet your heroes, interview them instead.

Sensational as ever, Pulp at Birmingham's Utilita Arena was a delight. Jarvis Cocker and the band managed to beat the heat, though I decided to wear a jacket and am now paying the price. LCD Soundsystem tonight, Pulp tomorrow, some sort of rest on Sunday.
