Started the day with another early morning meeting with editors around the world (Hello the Netherlands and Taiwan). Great way to start the day catching up, and comparing weather at the same time (sunny, with mists clearing here!)

Well, that meeting turned into a long debate on the merits of teaching and marking in HE as much as it was about publishing, so a fascinating session!

Reading about the ACS' 'article development charge' of U$2,500. Not for publication, just on submission of an article which may get rejected. AND they get to claim economic rights in the author's writing too.
Wow. That's some special kind of greedy behaviour from a published.

As a side note Exchanges charges ZERO fees and authors retain moral & economic rights in their published works.
