New biogs added to edgt.org.uk for two influential ministers - Rev Micaiah Towgood and his cousin Rev Stephen Towgood. Lots of other excellent biogs have been uploaded this year #Exeter #Devon @godsacre @devonfhresearch

Thanks to everyone who visited the graveyard during @heritageopenday recently. We enjoyed a lovely music performance from the West Gallery Quire to whom we are very grateful. Our gates will be open each Wednesday (10am-4pm) until the end of October.

We've been off-line for a few months, but we've been very busy working on biographies of people buried in @ExeterDGT. We are also installing lots of signs in the graveyard so that visitors can access our research work on their phones.@HeritageFundL_S - edgt.org.uk

Huge thanks from @ExeterDGT to all those players of @TNLUK #NationalLottery for making it possible for @HeritageFundUK to provide an emergency grant to us. The grant will be used wisely and will help to tell our story to visitors for years to come. #thankstoyou

Our booklet on the graveyard is now available at a special discounted price of £2.50 p&p. It covers the origins of the site to the present day conservation work. It's great value and proceeds go to our maintenance work. edgt.org.uk/booklet.html @devonfhresearch @devonhistorysoc

We want to turn the negatives created by #Covid_19 into a positive contribution to #Exeter's history. We are seeking memories, anecdotes & photographs of the Dissenters' graveyard, Magdalen Street or George's Meeting House in South Street. See edgt.org.uk/news.html for details.

This is a wonderful exhibition ably demonstrating the exquisite skills of Devon lacemakers. @RAMMuseum #Devon #DevonLacemakers
These late 19th-century laces still have original price tickets from Mrs. J. Tucker & Sons of Exeter. See them, and more beautiful #Devon #lace, in "By Royal Appointment: Devon Lace-makers," on until 31 May. #ByRoyalAppointment #lace-making #DevonLacemakers #DevonLace

The story of how Temperance Lloyd, Mary Trembles and Susanna Edwards came to the gallows is a tragic one that serves as a dark reminder of England's superstitious past 🧙‍♀️ bit.ly/342Oyce

Some people think visiting cemeteries is morbid, but they used to be popular places of recreation: This 1881 Globe article noted how, "The city burial grounds vie with the city parks in their attractions for the idler on a summer day," and were, "thronged" with visitors. 👍👍
