Dr Natália Pinazza, Senior Lecturer in Latin American and Lusophone Studies, has been developing, in partnership with the Environment Agency, a prototype app that uses art to communicate climate adaptation projects! More updates on this project as it develops!

The Department is enormously proud of Anna Paola Manna, a PhD student working with Adam Watt, who has won the postgraduate poster competition, run at the Society for French Studies conference [the most important subject conference in the UK and Ireland].

From street signs to graffiti, shopfronts to public art, students examined the semiotics of city spaces, engaging with real-world data and contemporary issues like identity, diversity, activism and inclusion, all against the stunning backdrop of Venice! 🇮🇹

60 delegates from across the partnership explored this year’s themes Community and Creativity through presentations on inclusive learning, creative assessment, grassroots initiatives like the Language Café, student co-creation, graphic novels, slow learning in the age of AI…
