Nearly 20 years on, I still frequently listen to Destroyer's Rubies, and every time I do, I think of @cmgzine's essay about the album when Dan Bejar sings the line in "European Oils" about the hangman's daughter needing to be at peace with her father -- "the fucking maniac."
