(1) Oh boy, ever had that one little tiny last step that just wrecked everything? That extra ingredient ruins your dinner Or, your lip color just doesn’t match If you can picture that, then picture this

2) This morning that little misstep was me adding another overhead light to my near perfect home office. It fell and cracked me screen in less than a second. Instant sadness and frustration, right? My knee-jerk reaction? Hit the “order now” button for a replacement.

3) But then I hit pause. I wanted to dig deeper into life’s inconveniences. There is always a lesson if you listen. Meh, turns out there’s no big lesson this time. No need to turn a molehill into a mountain just to score Twitter points. Sometimes, stuff just happens.

I recently learned people are placing objects on their keyboards while they go to the gym or run errands so their bosses think they are working. THIS IS NOT THE FUTURE OF WORK. Hire great people. Give them definitions of success. Focus on outcomes, not output. Align on the strategy. TRUST them. Get out of their way.

2 job interviews this week. Out of 50 applications. 1 was 4 hr long interviews - it was painfully intense. 2 was for slave wages and felt like a homework assignment

I’m going to assume that is for a job that doesn’t require 24/7 tethering. For consulting / Corp fin roles, the request is implied. If you don’t want to be tethered, it’s not the profession for you.

Last week, I sent out cold emails to a few portfolio companies and a couple of VCs offering business operation services. This is me crawling before I ball. No responses received yet. Not even a “no”. Put in a job app because real life is real.
