Like Xabi for the managerial spot, Hall is the clear and obvious target for LB spot. Some of my metrics have him as the best LB in the world despite his young age. Carreras moved to Real last year, I'd be surprised if he's sold so soon. If he is, any red flags we're missing?

what are your thoughts on replacements if lewis hall isnt possible, hearing names like araujo from sporting or the lb alonso had at madrid

Xabi Alonso has made great moves to start his stint here. I respect Cucurella a lot for his resilience and mental strength - but his physical and technical shortcomings are too obvious. It's a sale that needed to be made.
I'd happily sell Cucurella. Like I said elsewhere, I respect him for salvaging his career, but he's routinely the worst technical player on the pitch. I'd move him on when his value is still high. Hall is a definitive upgrade, always has been. Selling Enzo is a no-go.

Nothing sums up the failure of Chelsea's "structure" more than Gittens being at the club. Dortmund put a price-tag of £35m for him, we ended up paying £60m. He's hopelessly out of his depth, to make things worse. He's here solely to make Joe Shields' friends and family rich.
Niko Kovač advised Bayern against signing one of his own Dortmund players last year How? Last summer, after Bayern failed to sign priority target Nico Williams, they turned to alternatives. One of them was Dortmund's Jamie Gittens. The supervisory board, including Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, was skeptical about the player. A club employee was tasked with contacting Niko Kovač to get an honest opinion from him about Gittens. Kovač is said to have made it more than clear that he considers the Englishman "not professional enough" to succeed at FC Bayern. The club then abandoned the pursuit of Gittens and went all in on Luis Díaz. Gittens ended up joining Chelsea [@BILD, Bayern Insider]

There was nothing about Gittens that required a £60m bid. He wasn't in demand, didn't have a good season, had training issues and didn't even play well for England U-21s. He did have one thing though - his agent is incredibly close to Joe Shields. We're talking family-level.

What we're witnessing is brazen, third-world level corruption. Chelsea's fanbase is the only one that'll happily support this, instead of revolting against what's happening. In blunt terms: bad-faith actors are bleeding our club dry. You should be angry.

Chelsea is now a selfish football club. One of our SDs is running deals with his brother-in-law to make money off us. Our "coaches" are buddies with SDs, with no qualifications. They're leeching on. Our players are in it purely for themselves. Not easy for Xabi.

Our fans are complicit too - taking a quick buck to support the regime and quieten any questions. How can the club succeed when nobody actively wants the best for it? Our owners are easy marks - everyone is taking advantage.

In a season where EIGHT Premier League teams qualified for European football, Chelsea finished 10th. That will be the lasting legacy of this "project". Rip it up, let the clear-out begin.

If we play our cards right, next season can be very good for us. Not getting Europa/Conference League is actually the best case outcome for us, so I'm not worried. But for that to happen, we NEED to get rid of a lot of people from the club. Ruthless aggression.

Cucurella playing like Kovacic at the end of 22/23 - he wants out and is making it abundantly clear. 10% less effort in everything he does - not big enough to be noticeable, but sufficient to ensure the team suffers.

Have to add Cucurella to that list.

If it's a "cultural reset" we want, Fofana, Gusto and Neto should be the first players sold in the summer, even for a loss. Rotten apples. Them being here next year is a sign the reset has failed.

Enzo has hit 22 G/A in all comps for a 2nd season running. An incentive-based wage structure ensures he gets a lower wage next season because almost all his teammates have been below average this season. It is bound to make even an above average player unhappy.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE - Enzo Fernandez is likely to depart #Chelsea this summer. Contract negotiations have failed to progress and the player feels disappointed with “things being done to make him leave” Barring a huge turnaround, he will play his FINAL match this weekend. #CFC

Would you say this is worth it hypothetically. Enzo and Cucurella sold to Spain. Anderson or another 6/8 and Lewis Hall in? Personally for balance I would do it. If we can get Hall back that would be one of our best signings in years imo. Imagine if he had that Cucu role yday.

Enzo has 15 G/A in the league this season, is one of the best ball-progressors in the league, rises in big games and has made every team win. Why would you even think about selling him for a second?

There are some players who make every team win. They're rare, hard to describe, but you know one when you see one. It might sound outdated, but the pattern is clear once you know what to look for. Enzo, Kante, Rice, Van Dijk, many examples. Teams win when they're around.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently. Anderson has been one of the top 3 midfielders in the PL this year, but I'm not sure if I have him on par with Rice when he was at West Ham. A lot of his on-ball game with scale well, I'm less convinced about his off-ball game.
Fun thought exercise: 23 year old Declan Rice vs. 23 year old Elliot Anderson? - Rice: the more accurate passer, better ball carrier, and had the higher oop responsibility - Anderson: the more prolific creator, more on-ball responsibility, and more robust dueler At least by the numbers vs. u23 PL midfielders over the past eight seasons. What's telling about the level of both is that there's clear elements of why they would succeed in any midfield role. - Rice as an 8: monster ball carrier - Anderson as an 8: creative and dueling volume - Rice as a 6: oop responsibility and prg/long pass accuracy - Anderson as a 6: the responsibility to handle that level of pass volume

Anderson is a great player, Rice is a transformative one. Saved WHU from relegation in 19/20, followed it with back-to-back top 7 finishes while also winning an European trophy. Of course, he has now led Arsenal to a PL title. I have Anderson a notch or two below Rice.

If up to me, Elliott Anderson would be our #1 target. Wide skillset, great (not merely good) at a lot of crucial things and most importantly, a huge personality.

Do you have any names, some examples of players who could be that, and who Chelsea should be looking at to sign?

In an ideal world, we need a GK, LB, CB, DM, LW. But that's being greedy, and it's not important we sign all of them. What we actually need is what I call "lighthouses". Players who everyone turns to when things are not ideal. Could be a CB, DM, AM, anything. At least one.
Replying to @ExpectedChelsea
3 to 4 signings should do it not sure how they get it done.

When I watch us, I see two lighthouses - Colwill and Enzo. Palmer was supposed to be that, and he was one, but he is going through his own struggles due to injury. I'll bet on him bouncing back. But being a lighthouse is not just technical, it's also emotional. Who can stand up?

When Arsenal are in a rocky period, they turn to Rice. He's the one to lead them, everyone follows him. For Liverpool, it's Van Dijk. City, it's Bernardo. United, it's Bruno. While Enzo and Colwill are good, they're not at the above level. Can we fix that gap in the market?
