This chart (Gas station retail sales deflated by CPI Gasoline price index) - suggests amount of gas pumped last month was same as 4 years previously. Less driving, EV and fuel efficiency gains?

Our own "real" retail sales index has its components individually deflated. (unlike the headline which deflates all sales by All Items CPI). Dropped below pre-Covid levels.

Payroll Survey in perspective. Today's report ~60k retail jobs growth in January. Seasonally adjusted. But then, as of last month's report, there had been 60k growth in May. As of today, May is now revised to a 25k LOSS. Seasonal adjustment for you.

Out and About weekly update. Dining and Travel compared to last year, continues down. Nationwide back at June levels. In California, back even earlier.
