๐Ÿ“Š 99% of traders either don't have a well-defined strategy or lack the discipline to follow one consistently. ๐ŸŽฏโŒ ๐Ÿ“ˆ 0.99% of traders do follow a strategy, but they understand only their own approach and often assume that other approaches cannot work. ๐Ÿ”จ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿง  Only 0.01% of traders (like @TheVivekSinghal sir) recognize that markets offer multiple paths to success. They understand different trading and investing styles, their underlying logic, strengths, limitations, and the conditions under which each can work. ๐Ÿ“šโš–๏ธ ๐ŸŽฏ They also understand that no single approach is universally superior. Different approaches suit different temperaments, personalities, risk appetites, goals, and life circumstances. ๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿก

๐Ÿ“Œ Who Should Use a Stop-Loss? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ“‰ 1๏ธโƒฃ If you pick stocks primarily based on price action, chart patterns, and momentum ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿš€, your thesis is invalidated when the price behaves differently from what you expected. In such cases, a price-based stop-loss is an essential risk-management tool. ๐Ÿ“‰โš ๏ธ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ 2๏ธโƒฃ If you pick stocks primarily based on business quality, valuation, and a medium-to-long-term investment thesis ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ’ฐ, short-term price volatility ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ”„ does not necessarily invalidate the thesis. With disciplined position sizing (e.g., 2โ€“3% of capital per position) ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ“, not using a price-based stop-loss can be a reasonable approach, provided the business thesis remains intact. ๐Ÿง โœ…๐Ÿ“ˆ ๐Ÿ’ก The usefulness of a stop-loss depends on the strategy being followed. Applying the same rule across different approaches, time horizons โณ, and position-sizing frameworks ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’ผ can create more confusion than clarity. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ ๐ŸŽฏ Every risk-management rule should be evaluated within the context of the strategy it is meant to serve. My biggest allocation (around 5% of the portfolio) is now on the "mattress" ๐Ÿ›๏ธ I can "sleep well" ๐Ÿ˜ด with it all the way until it becomes a 2x... or even a 3x ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿš€ This is my first-ever stock picked inspired by the 3x-3y strategy taught by @TheVivekSinghal sir ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ“š Let's see how the journey unfolds! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ“Šโœจ

Query: Where did @TheVivekSinghal sir go wrong in suggesting Rajesh Exports? ๐Ÿค” My Response ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ Before responding to the above query, let me first summarize some of the core lessons taught by Vivek Sir in his online classes, which are freely available on his YouTube channel ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ”น As retail investors, we generally have to rely on audited financial statements and balance sheets certified by CAs. ๐Ÿ“Š ๐Ÿ”น Even if a company clears all the parameters of a good business, frauds can still happen. Cases like Satyam have shown that not everything can be detected in advance. โš ๏ธ ๐Ÿ”น Retail investors are usually not capable of consistently detecting frauds early. In the stock market, unexpected things can happen to any particular business. ๐Ÿ“‰ To address these realities, Sir has always emphasized risk management: โœ… Never deploy more than 3% of total capital in a single trade, irrespective of how high your conviction may be. ๐ŸŽฏ โœ… Average up or take a second entry only when either the valuation becomes more attractive or the financial/business performance has improved since the first purchase. ๐Ÿ“ˆ The foundation of the approach itself acknowledges that any stock can fail, even go to zero. The objective is to ensure that such an event does not derail your long-term compounding journey. ๐ŸŒฑ As I am still relatively new to the market and my understanding of businesses is evolving, I have reduced this limit further and generally deploy only 1โ€“2% of capital per trade. ๐Ÿ™ I am comfortable tracking stocks, maintaining watchlists, monitoring quarterly results, maintaining a detailed trading ledger, and evaluating portfolio performance. Because of this, I am also comfortable managing a portfolio of 50โ€“60 stocks. ๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“ˆ I have often stated that I follow an approach where the boom ๐Ÿš€ or doom ๐Ÿ’ฅ of any single stock should neither make nor break my portfolio. Therefore, when people ask, "Where did Vivek Sir go wrong in suggesting Rajesh Exports?" ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ My mind goes in a different direction. I wonder, "Where did investors go wrong if a single trade was capable of causing serious injury to their overall portfolio?" ๐Ÿค” A stock going wrong is always a possibility. In my view, a portfolio suffering serious damage because of just one or two stocks is often a position-sizing problem ๐Ÿ“Œ, not merely a question of stock selection criteria.

My story of Rajesh Export: I took a trade in Rajesh Export in 2023 with โ‚น40k, which was around 3% of my portfolio at that time ๐Ÿ“Š. I have shared earlier that I had lost conviction in Rajesh Export long ago. Since I do not average down or take a second trade in a stock without personal conviction, I never added more shares of Rajesh Export ๐Ÿšซ. Today, the position is down nearly 75% ๐Ÿ“‰, reducing its value to around โ‚น10k. At the same time, my portfolio has grown substantially through deployment of regular monthly savings ๐Ÿ’ฐ and appreciation in my other holdings ๐Ÿ“ˆ. As a result, Rajesh Export now constitutes only about 0.17% of my current portfolio. So, if I say that I will continue holding Rajesh Exports and watch its complete journey till the very end ๐Ÿ‘€, I hope that doesn't sound completely irrational or nonsensical to you ๐Ÿ˜„. @TheVivekSinghal ๐Ÿ™

Core principles of the trading approach of @TheVivekSinghal sir ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿง โšก 1๏ธโƒฃ Find great businesses: Debt-free profitable businesses with 10โ€“15 years of historical performance ๐Ÿ“Š and 10โ€“15 years of future growth prospects ๐Ÿš€ Note: Vivek sir has described six criteria for stock selection in his online classes freely available on his YouTube channel. 2๏ธโƒฃ Prepare a list of stocks of these great businesses ๐Ÿ“ and trade only in these selected stocks ๐ŸŽฏ 3๏ธโƒฃ Trade (buy & sell) in these stocks based on 3โ€“4 backtested technical strategies ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ“ˆโš™๏ธ Note: Vivek sir has taught 10-12 strategies in his online classes. You can choose any 3-4 strategies as per your liking. 4๏ธโƒฃ Track these stock lists regularly ๐Ÿ” for financial performance (in screener.in) ๐Ÿ“‘ and for buying opportunities based on technical strategies ( in TradingView) ๐Ÿ“Š 5๏ธโƒฃ Max 3% allocation in one trade โš–๏ธ and max 2 trades in a single stock at a time ๐Ÿšฆ 6๏ธโƒฃ Record all open & closed trades in Google Sheets ๐Ÿ“’๐Ÿงพ 7๏ธโƒฃ Keep trading based on preset rules of the approach ๐Ÿ”„ It's just like running a grocery or medical shop ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’ผ systematic, disciplined, and process-driven โšก Above is the core framework of Vivek sirโ€™s trading approach ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ“ˆ There is a lot of scope for modifications and customization in the details of this approach ๐Ÿ”งโœจ On whatever point in this approach you feel discomfort โš ๏ธ, put efforts into understanding that point deeply ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿง  Learn about that point from multiple sources ๐Ÿ”, and after proper understanding, suitably modify the point to remove your discomfort โœจ The purpose is to make the trading approach so easy, smooth, and sustainable ๐ŸŒฑ that you can continue with it for a very long period.... for the rest of your life โณ๐Ÿ“ˆ ..... even while going through ups and downs in other aspects of life ๐ŸŒŠโš–๏ธ @TheVivekSinghal ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

What still surprises me is that despite witnessing so many uncertain outcomes and events in life, I never truly understood the fundamentally uncertain nature of life itself. ๐Ÿค”โณ It was the markets ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ“ˆ that finally taught me one of the deepest truths of human existence: uncertainty is not an exception in life; it is its very nature. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽญ Those who understand the uncertain nature of life and markets, and continuously prepare themselves for uncertainties, tend to live with greater peace ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ and prosper with greater resilience. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ’ฐ @TheVivekSinghal ๐Ÿ™

Update on Mentorship Oppertunity ๐Ÿ‘‡ So far, I have received responses from 17 people, and honestly, it has been an absolute delight to read every single one of them ๐Ÿ™โœจ After going through all the responses, one thing became very clear to me.... none of them are in any way lesser than me. In fact, many of them are far better than me in certain aspects of lifeโ€ฆ especially in areas where I myself wish to grow and improve ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ“š That is exactly why I am genuinely excited to interact with such wonderful people ๐Ÿคโœจ And because of this feeling, I am not willing to pick only five people out of the group. Instead, I have decided to interact with all 17 participants โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ“Œ In the initial phase, I have planned two sessions of interaction: In the first phase, we will have Zoom discussions to clear all doubts related to the teachings and strategies of @TheVivekSinghal sir ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“ˆ In the second phase, I will personally interact with each participant about their life situation and long-term wealth-building journey ๐Ÿคโœจ After these interactions, everyone can naturally form smaller groups for continued long-term interactions based on mutual understanding, compatibility, and matching frequencies โšก๐Ÿค I too will continue long-term interactions with like-minded participants.... not just regarding the stock market, but also about personal growth and building a strong foundation for sustained long-term wealth creation ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’นโœจ ๐Ÿ“… Most probably, the first Zoom session will be conducted next week. I will share the date, timing, and Zoom meeting link through emails soon ๐Ÿ“ฉ๐Ÿ’ป
