Hamadio since 1985. G0MUW, CT1EFL, AA2PJ, XU7PJ. Some HF and Much QO-100. DXing. Roving. Homebrew. CW (HSC #1758). Spacecraft controller at Eutelsat. Follow me.
Glad to get KQ31 activated also. Right by the coast. Because of the inclement weather had to make it quick, so only SSB/CW. No FT8 ā¦āAināt nobody got time for thatā. #qo100#hamradio#amsat#amateurradio
Norway, you spoilt me the first couple of days. Wet and windy at the northern edge of Europe today. Low elevation angle is just a bonus⦠āIf itās not RAINing, then itās not tRAINingā #qo100#hamradio#amsat#gridhopper#amateurradio
Off to a sunny start heading to KQ20. But sun⦠dramatic skies⦠showers. Iām realising that the weather can change very fast here š³š“ . #qo100#hamradio#amsat#amateurradio
Back on the same KQ10/KP19 gridline as yesterday. For FT8 today too. Bad weather but managed to set-up and take-down between the downpours. Also, good for testing the watch app as I can just walk between the grids. #qo100#hamradio#amsat#gridhopper#amateurradio
Dipped my toe into KQ00. This was the only spot on a dirt road cul-de-sac covered by trees and bushes ā¦found a gap that allowed for the low 11deg elevation. Otherwise it could be a big trip around with ferries etc. Lucky Lucky. #qo100#hamradio#amsat#gridhopper#amateurradio
Graveyard shifts at the Eutelsat Teleport the next few days. A one hour trip each way, but perfect for testing GridHopperTac whilst on the move. Added a virtual compass option to complement the pointing data. Set the orbital position in Options, then blue dot points to satellite (red arrow is magnetic north). Beta version soon. #qo100#hamradio#amsat#amateurradio#wearos#gridhopper
More code crunching tonight. More bugs, more options, more cosmetics. But a useable version for initial testing. Satellite pointing data added for any geo satellite ā¦position defined in options. Now sporting a bobby-dazzler wrist strap. #q0100#hamradio#GridHopper#amsat
Grrrrā¦. spent all day ādancing the fandangoā with Android Studio to get a barebones GridHopper wearable app going. First version. Shows current gridsquare and nearest border direction/distance. Alerts on crossing gridline. A lighter alternative to my GridHopper.net Runs autonomously without needing an Internet connection. Installs on Ware OS smart watches. Testing now with a secondhand Galaxy Watch4 as the main mover. Very cheap hardware. GPS works often indoors ā¦impressive. Yet, a fraction of the cost of some big-boy timepieces. Also no need for Developer/PlayStore/AppStore bureaucracies. #GridHopperTac#qo100#amateurradio#hamradio#GridHopper#amsat
Setting up for a QO-100 satellite session from Cambodia š°š. Gear is ready, the sky looks dramatic, and everything is dialed in. Operating tonight at 12:00 UTC (7:00 PM local). See you on the birds! š”⨠#hamradio#XU7AMO#QO100#amateurradio
