Countdown day 4, we solved a lemonade mystery! Students worked through stations to figure out who stole the lemons from the lemonade stand. We ended with a video on how to run your very own lemonade stand!
On the second day of our end of the year countdown, we celebrated becoming published authors with a book celebration! Students in three classes shared class created books, each filled with memories from first grade ☺️

Today we took a trip over to the @FCPSESSL to learn about some cool animals and look at our day/night sky patterns! My firsties had such a great time. Thank you for having us!

At GVES we began an iReady challenge across all grades. For the month of February, first grade passed the most reading lessons! So proud of my group and all the hard work they put in, let’s do it again for March! 🍀
For our Unit 7 concept board, we were able to use our student anthologies to help come up with inquiry questions revolving around our theme Roots and Seeds! We had some really great ideas and I can’t wait to see where our explorations lead!
I love when students can provide feedback to each other to strengthen their work! This week we looked at our How To writing and helped one another edit for things like punctuation, capitalization, and sight word spelling!
After reading our story OpenCourt story “Insects Grow and Change”, we extended our knowledge of life cycles by investigating the life cycle of a butterfly!
Met up with our 4th grade Math Buddies today! The 1st graders picked out one of our center games and taught the older kids how to play! Building school community one buddy at a time! ☺️
We tried something new with our This or That board this week! Students had the choice of independent practice through an interactive Google slides or Peardeck lesson to strengthen their skills identifying Long e words! It was a hit!
