Chairman's Thoughts!
📷It’s a relief to see the season come to an end—one that brought more downs than ups. However, in the final few months, there were clear signs of progress. Under Marvin Samuel, alongside Mike and Dan, we’ve seen a shift toward better players, stronger cohesion, and a defined goal: to build a squad capable of matching the club’s facilities in the season ahead.
Firstly, a sincere thank you to Tilly and Darbs for stepping up to manage the First Team. Unfortunately, their commitment wasn’t always matched on the pitch. I’m especially grateful to Darbs for staying on until Marvin’s arrival—thank you.
This season, the Reserves and U18 were combined into one group. While challenging at times, it proved valuable for both players and management. A big thank you to Mark “Phipsy” Philips, Louis Lee, Adam “Keeper” Paine, Yunus Topal, and Keith Satchell for their dedication across countless Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. I look forward to working with them next season.
Looking ahead to next season, our focus will shift firmly to player development. We’ve recognised the clear gap between midweek youth football and the demands of the men’s game. As a result, next season we will run two sides: Codicote First Team and a Codicote Development Team. This structure will allow U18 players to integrate with experienced individuals, helping to shape the future of the First Team.
As for Marvin and the First Team, there is a clear plan in place. Commitment, discipline, and communication are non-negotiable—those who embrace these values will thrive at the club. Those who don’t, unfortunately, won’t be part of the journey for long.
The objective is simple: promotion. Work on squad regeneration is already underway to make that a reality.
Finally, a huge thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters—your backing remains invaluable.
