South Carolina budget, more than doubled the total government spending in a decade, from $22.6 billion to over $40 billion, and what do South Carolinians actually get?
💩Education rankings still mired in the bottom tier (42nd–43rd), roads graded a pathetic “D” with nearly half in poor or mediocre condition and quality declining relative to the national average, higher-than-average violent and property crime, and poverty stubbornly above the national rate. The budget apologists in the original post trot out the tired excuses, “inflation, population growth, federal funds”, but even adjusted for those, spending has massively outpaced both, with billions in documented cumulative overspending since 2015.
💩Double the money for stagnant or worsening outcomes in the areas that actually matter to regular people? That’s not progress. That’s bureaucratic bloat, waste, and zero accountability dressed up as “necessary growth.”
💩Same failing schools. Same pothole-riddled roads. Same mediocre results.
Just a much bigger check written to the same broken system.
Classic government math, spend twice as much, deliver the same (or less).
Taxpayers are getting robbed in broad daylight.
