“I don’t really want to sell for 2nds, my 2nd round rookie picks never hit...”
… is a statement I hear quite frequently when I’m recommending selling aging vets for future picks, and the point is very often being missed.
You don’t have to ever draft those picks‼️
You’re trading for an asset that can’t tear its ACL, can’t get arrested, never declines in value, and is the most liquid trade asset you can have in

That pick could be the final piece that gets a big trade done. It could be the asset you use to buy that last contending piece before the trade deadline. And it can always be useful to have during rookie drafts to package to move up or get value by moving back.
Don’t underestimate the value of future draft picks by just equating it to hit rates.
