ALT For the FIBE2 Cambridge Festival games, Cohort 5 spent 50 hours laser-cutting the beautiful giveaway bridge and house sets. The public loved it! The activities explained the application of biomimicry used in Civil Engineering, eg. how the steel cables in a suspension bridge lend strength and stability like spider silk for a spider web or how the foundations of a building anchor a house like the sturdy roots of a tree. The interchangeable bridge and house sets illustrate reuse of materials and sustainability in our strive for net zero carbon emissions to combat climate change.
