FLAME Alumna Radhika Mulay published a book chapter, 'The Cryosphere and Delta: Navigating Transboundary Dynamics of Ganga River Basin' in Rivers Beyond Borders. The chapter examines the Cryosphere and Delta of the Ganga River Basin as deeply interconnected transboundary regions spanning the Tibet Autonomous Region, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. Despite their critical role in the basin's hydrological system and their vulnerability to climate change, these regions remain largely absent from existing riparian policy frameworks. Drawing on cartographic maps, archival records, policy documents, and ethnographic methods, including interviews and field observations, the chapter highlights the complex environmental, hydrological, and socio-economic dynamics shaping these regions. It explores challenges such as glacial retreat, permafrost thawing, land subsidence, sea level rise, and water scarcity, which are insufficiently addressed within current river basin management approaches. Loneliness among men often remains difficult to identify because it rarely appears as visible sadness or explicit emotional expression. Instead, it can surface through irritability, arguments, emotional withdrawal, excessive competitiveness, or disproportionate reactions to everyday frustrations. A sense of disconnection is underneath such moments, shaped by the absence of spaces where men feel safe enough to pause, reflect, and articulate emotional strain. Socialization patterns further deepen this condition, as boys often learn masculinity through models that reward endurance, dominance, and productivity while discouraging vulnerability and emotional introspection. Over time, friendships become organized around activity and performance rather than emotional openness, leaving many men without meaningful outlets during periods of stress, loss, or transition. In this article, FLAME Alumna Muskan Shah and Prof. Moitrayee Das, Faculty of Psychology at FLAME University, explore how cultural expectations surrounding masculinity shape emotional development and experiences of loneliness. Drawing on Carl Jung's concept of the Puer Aeternus, they reflect on how emotional growth can remain underdeveloped when identity becomes narrowly tied to achievement, provision, and external validation. The piece highlights that men consistently show lower rates of psychological help-seeking, often redirecting emotional pressure into symbolic expressions such as intense loyalty, conflict, or over-identification with roles and routines. Rather than treating emotional literacy as an inherent trait, it is discussed as a skill that must be cultivated through reflective friendships, intellectual companionship, and emotionally safe spaces for men. The article ultimately calls for a broader reimagining of connection, where emotional openness is integrated into daily lives, rather than being an exception. Carbon credit systems are increasingly expanding into agriculture, positioning farming practices as part of global climate mitigation efforts. In India, where rice cultivation is both economically significant and environmentally intensive, climate-smart agricultural techniques are being promoted to reduce methane emissions and water consumption. Large-scale agreements linking multinational corporations with agricultural alliances suggest that emission reductions are no longer confined to industrial sectors alone. At the same time, these developments raise important questions about equity, sustainability, and how the benefits of climate finance are distributed among smallholder farmers who remain central to such transitions. In this article, Prof. Anjal Prakash, Faculty of Public Policy at FLAME University, shares his insights and cautions that carbon credit schemes in rice farming could have unintended consequences if not carefully managed. He notes that while such projects aim to promote sustainable practices, they may inadvertently encourage the continued cultivation of water-intensive crops like rice without addressing the underlying issue of resource depletion. Prof. Prakash emphasizes that balancing carbon credit initiatives with water conservation is crucial to ensure that agricultural practices genuinely become sustainable and do not exacerbate India’s existing environmental challenges.
