The horrific shooting at Oxford High School has broken our hearts and troubled our minds. GVSU currently holds 82 graduates of Oxford High as fellow Lakers and perhaps countless more with close connections. The collateral impact is immeasurable and extends to GVSU and beyond.

Twenty years ago, a vigil was held at the Cook Carillon Tower on September 11 after news broke about the terrorist attacks in New York and Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon. Today, Lakers have placed flags to remember the victims and many acts of heroism that took place in 2001.
