Sir Graham Henry is 80 today. The former All Black coach played five #PlunketShield games for Canterbury (as wicketkeeper and #11 batsman) and one game for Otago (as specialist opening batsman) in the mid-1960s. A curious first-class career.

Ian Leggat, NZ's oldest living test cricketer, is 96 today. Just the fourth @BLACKCAPS player to reach that milestone after Eric Tindill, Jack Kerr & Trevor McMahon. Leggat was a member of the 1953/54 NZ team in South Africa.

Ashburton/Mid-Canterbury sporting legend Brian Sampson died recently aged 80. Member of the Ashburton County rugby team which beat Australia 16-10 in 1964 and played two FC games for Canterbury Cricket in 1969/70.

It's 95 years since @BLACKCAPS played their first test at Lord's. It was meant to be NZ's inaugural test but the games v MCC in 1929/30 were ruled as official after the series ended and thus they became NZ's first test matches.

The oldest living NZ representative cricketer is believed to be former North Otago player Mick Buckenham (97). In March 1947 he made 213 for Waitaki BHS. Members of the England and @BLACKCAPS teams were present while on their way from Dunedin to Christchurch for a test match.
