Team 449 competed at the Chesapeake District Championship April 3-6! Big thanks to our alliance partners 4099 and 888 with whom we earned third place! Team 449 even won the Gracious Professionalism Award. We are worlds-bound!🌎

Shout-out to Allison and Victoria for designing our awesome 2024 t-shirt art!! Each year, student artists on Team 449 create artwork matching our robot name/theme for our season's T-shirts. This year's theme is Whiplash, a reference to the 2014 movie about a young drummer!

Blacksburg Week 1 Event ✅ Team 449 competed in its first competition of the season last weekend! We had a blast and even won the event and the Quality Award!! Big thank you to our wonderful alliance partners 9496, 1885, and 8230, and to 401 for hosting the event. 🎉

STEM Fairs 2024!! 🧪📷<🧲 STEM Fairs are a month-long program run by Team 449 each year for students grades K-5 at local elementary schools. We teach students STEM concepts covering subjects from DNA, Coding, and Engineering. @RTCommunitySchl thank you for this opportunity!

We supported the 2024 Drew Elementary STEAM Family Night, reaching over 325 students and parents! Oliver (slide 4), a sophomore on Team 449, was a graduate of Drew Elementary. His involvement on the team has come back full circle to the community!

FLL 57535, The Blair Lego Project (mentored by FRC 449), competed at the Montgomery County Qualifier this weekend! The students worked hard this season to perfect their robot's missions and present their research project robot design philosophy to judges at the event. Congrats!

On December 16th, FRC 449 competed in and hosted Blair Bunnybots 2023! The team had a blast and enjoyed connecting with teams across the district. We competed with 2 robots, Lilo (veteran-led bot), and Stich (rookie-led bot). Thank you to all the volunteers who made it a success!

Last weekend, 449 members volunteered at the annual Takoma Park Folk Festival! Students covered several shifts, helping with setup, transporting materials, vendor/stage assistance, breakdown, and more.
